Bridge to close for 4 hours Friday during ‘Dine on the Dungeness’

The Dungeness Railroad Bridge is closing — briefly.

The Dungeness River Nature Center will close the east side spans and historic railroad trestle to through pedestrian and bicycle traffic from 5-9 p.m. this Friday, July 28, for “Dine on the Dungeness,” a private dinner for donors held each year.

Pedestrians and bicyclists can use the west side of the trail from East Runnion Road over the main channel of the Dungeness River, but there will be no passage beyond that for four hours.

The popular “Dine on the Dungeness,” featuring a salmon dinner, dessert and open bar, returns after a hiatus of three years during the COVID-19 pandemic, the center’s closure for construction, and the Jamestown Tribe’s rehabilitation of the River’s historic floodplain.

Tickets for the dinner sold out within four days after it was announced through the river center’s email list, with no more availability on the waiting list.
