City of Sequim to begin road projects April 10

Sequim residents can expect delays, closures and detours on seven city roadways for three to four weeks, as the City of Sequim begins pavement restoration and pedestrian/bicycle improvement projects next week.

Crews are scheduled to begin rehabilitating selected sections of streets and the Olympic Discovery Trail (ODT) beginning Monday, April 10. Work will take place 7 a.m.-6 p.m., Monday through Friday. The project is weather dependent.

Roads affected during construction will include: North Sequim Avenue; North Sunnyside Avenue; North Knapman Avenue; North Govan Avenue; North Matriotti Avenue; East Washington Street; and, Olympic Discovery Trail portions of West Hendrickson Road.

Residents can expect delays, localized closures and detours during work hours, city officials said.

“Resident access will be provided; however, residents are encouraged to heed flaggers, cones and construction signage, and to be cognizant of large construction equipment and trucks and their backup alarms,” city officials said in a press release.

This project includes placement of hot mix asphalt, milling, ADA ramp construction, sidewalk replacement and other associated work. The work will be performed by crews from Lakeside Industries, PR Systems and Interwest Construction.

Work is scheduled to be performed at the following locations (in tentative order):

• Oak Wood Drive

• Oak Tree Ridge Street

• East Hendrickson Road

• North Brown Road

• Olympic Discovery Trail (small portions located at or near Kendall Road, Seventh Avenue, Fifth, Avenue, West Hendrickson Road across from middle school, East Washington Street across from the Holiday Inn, and Keeler Road

• East Fir Street

• West Hendrickson Road

• Garry Oak Drive
