Clallam County Superior Court

Hans Fredrick Albertsen – Albertsen, 29, of Sequim, had one count of second degree taking a motor vehicle without permission dismissed on July 30. It was dismissed with prejudice, meaning the charges can’t be refiled.

Loretta Edberg – Edberg, 36, of Upland, Calif., had her first court appearance rescheduled from Aug. 14 to Aug. 28. She was arrested May 1 in Montclair, Calif., on investigation of custodial interference. Her suspected accomplice, Anthony Charles Buchanan, also was released.

Christopher D. Hanning, 10, and Joshua N. Hanning, 13, were found with Edberg, their mother, in Montclair, Calif., and reunited with their father, Brian Hanning, on May 2.

Russell Jeffrey Rees – Rees, 35, of Sequim, pleaded guilty Aug. 14 to one count of indecent liberties and one count of second-degree incest. Sentencing was set for Sept. 22.

The charges originate from a pornographic video found at Rees’ Sequim home when Clallam County Sheriff’s deputies were looking for information regarding his molestation charge. It showed a 39-year-old Sequim woman (Gail Elaine Smith), a 9-year-old girl and an 18-year-old woman in sexually explicit acts.

Smith’s trial date is set for Aug. 31. She faces one count of first-degree child molestation, one count of sexual exploitation of a minor, one count of second-degree incest and one count of dealing in depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

Aaron Hahn’s Aug. 24 murder solicitation trial was moved to Sept. 21. Prosecutor Deb Kelly requested the delay on Aug. 14 because she just had taken over the case file from deputy prosecutor William Payne.
