Undersheriff Ron Cameron of the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office attended the first Homeland Security Leadership Academy hosted by the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC) in Glynco, Ga., from Sept. 14-24.

The program is the first of its kind training that explored the contemporary issues impacting the law enforcement profession.

The academy provided participants not only with courses on crisis management, leadership and terrorism awareness, but also the opportunity to engage with fellow senior law enforcement leaders from across the country.

Students were placed into simulated events and monitored by facilitators where problems were supplied to solve in high stress situations, preparing commanders for high profile responses that are prevalent today.

Cameron said he was honored to be a part of the first Homeland Security Leadership Academy at FLETC.

It is expected the academy will become a regularly scheduled program offered and future such academies are expected to be scheduled starting in 2016.
