Community agencies get housing monies for homeless, low income

Affordable housing plans and efforts to end homelessness have received the approval of Clallam County commissioners.

Funds for the projects are generated by recording fees collected by the county auditor’s office specifically for affordable housing and homeless housing.

The money will support:

_ Healthy Families’ operations and maintenance of emergency shelter related to domestic violence ($20,581).

_ Serenity House to develop housing for chronically homeless at the Maloney Heights Project in Port Angeles ($45,000).

_ Housing Authority of Clallam County’s Elklund Heights Self-Help Housing Program in Port Angeles ($16,100).

_ West End Outreach for two units of emergency shelter in Forks ($20,000).

_ Serenity House for rehabilitation and renovation of the Horne Building in Sequim for 10 units of housing ($7,700).

_ Serenity House for support services at the Housing Resource Centers for homeless or at risk of homeless people in Port Angeles and Sequim ($38,500).

_ Healthy Families for support services and rental subsidies for homeless or at risk of homelessness families because of domestic violence ($42,700).

_ Volunteers in Medicine for primary health care for homeless or at risk of homelessness individuals ($23,400).

___West End Outreach for outreach and case management on issues related to homelessness or risk of homelessness in the West End of the county ($37,700).
