Adult reading program
North Olympic Library System is holding a reading program for adults that continues through Monday, May 24, at all four branches. No registration is necessary.
Read at least five books and record them on a reading log sheet. Bring the completed log to the local library by May 24 and receive a bookmark with images of masterpieces. Post an original or favorite poem on the "Poet-Tree" to celebrate National Poetry Month in April.

Audubon Society
Olympic Peninsula Audubon Society meets at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 21, at the Dungeness River Audubon Center, Railroad Bridge Park, 2151 W. Hendrickson Road, Sequim.
Nina Carter, member of the Western Washington Growth Management Hearings Board, speaks about "Impressions of the Growth Management Act after One Year" or "What every birder should know about one of the state’s most powerful habitat protection laws."
Carter was the executive director and policy director for Audubon Washington for seven years.

Blood drive
Knights of Columbus Council 8455 spon-sors a blood drive with the Puget Sound Blood Center from 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. and 3:15-5:30 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 121 E. Maple St., Sequim.
Anyone in good health, age 18 or older, may donate.

Buy and sell online
Amelia Garripoli will discuss the basics of buying and selling online, using sites such as eBay and Amazon, at 7 p.m. Monday, April 19, at the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St., Port Angeles.
Topics include how to get registered to buy, searching for items on which to bid, tips on how to successfully bid and win items, how to register as a seller in order to auction or sell your own items, and precautions to take to avoid the risks of selling or purchasing online.
Coin club meets
Mount Olympus Coin Club meets 5-7 p.m. Thursday, April 15, at the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St., Port Angeles. United States and foreign coins and paper money will be discussed. Activities include free appraisals, a coin auction and a raffle. Call 452-3358.
Celebrate the Earth
Join the citywide events to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Earth Day on Saturday, April 17. There will be booths, demonstrations, nature walks, children’s activities focusing on water conservation, waste reduction, fuel and energy efficiency and gardening.
The main venue is the Boys & Girls Club, 400 W. Fir St., with other locations including the Water Reuse Park, June Robinson Memorial Park, Community Organic Gardens of Sequim, Olympic Theatre Arts, the Museum and Arts Center, Blue Whole Gallery and more.
Sequim Open Aire Market spring preview will be held 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, April 17, at the Boys & Girls Club, 400 W. Fir St., Sequim. The Sequim-Dungeness Valley Chamber of Commerce hosts a booth at Bank of America Park, at the corner of Sequim Avenue and Washington Street. The Sequim Irrigation Festival royalty will be on hand near the booth from noon-12:30 p.m.

LWV Wild Olympic Campaign
League of Women Voters of Clallam County hosts a Wild Olympic Campaign presentation 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Monday, April 19, at the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave., Sequim. Wild Olympic Campaign is a coalition of groups working to protect watersheds on the Olympic Peninsula.

No studded tires after April 17
Washington State Patrol troopers will enforce a $124 fine for those who use studded tires after April 17. The deadline was extended from April 1 to April 17.
Washington State Department of Transportation encourages drivers, especially those heading into the higher elevations, to plan ahead and drive for conditions.

Play festival auditions
Community members can audition 5:30-
7 p.m. Friday, April 16, and 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, April 17, for a role in one or more of the fifth annual Peninsula College’s Festival of Student-Directed One Act Plays in May.
Auditions will be held in the college’s Little Theater, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd., Port Angeles.
Cold readings will be available but actors also are welcome to bring a prepared monologue. Roles are available for all ages, with all levels of experience.
The festival will be held May 21-23.
Speeders beware
Law enforcement personnel across Washington state participate in the "Slow Down or Pay Up Speed Enforcement Campaign" through Saturday May 1.
Participating agencies include Washington State Patrol, Clallam County Sheriff’s Office, Port Angeles Police Department and the
Sequim Police Department.
Help plan runoff options
Clallam County Stormwater Work Group holds its second meeting from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 22, in the Pirate Union Building at Peninsula College, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd., Port Angeles.
