Commission meets on shoreline plan

OPHS holds open house

The Olympic Peninsula Humane Society holds an open house from 1-3 p.m. today, April 18.

PBS airs program on Elwha Dams

“Undamming the Elwha” airs for the first time at 7 p.m. today, April 18, on KCTS 9. The program also airs Sunday, April 22, at 1:30 a.m., 5 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Visit http://kcts9.org for other airing times.

KCTS 9 and Earthfix produced the program on the removal of two dams from the Elwha River and its impact.

St. Joseph’s puts on blood drive

The Knights of Columbus and the Puget Sound Blood Bank sponsor a blood drive from 11:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Thursday, April 19, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Parish Hall, 121 E. Maple St., Sequim. The drive closes for a break from 3:15-4 p.m. Donors should be 18 or older and in good health.

Hospital guild hosts Bunco

The Sequim Guild of Seattle Children’s Hospital sponsors a bunco game at noon Friday, April 20, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 525 N. Fifth Ave., Sequim. The event includes food, prizes, a raffle and a silent auction.

A donation of $12 is requested. Proceeds help with medical costs for children of families in need.

Band boosters suds cars

The Sequim High School Band Boosters holds a car wash from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, April 21, at Tarcisio’s parking lot, 609 W. Washington St.

Cost is by donation. Proceeds support participation and travel fees for the band to perform at events in Seattle, Victoria, and alternate years at Disneyland.

‘Paws to Read’ at Sequim Library

The Sequim Library, in collaboration with Olympic Gentle Paws, continues its Paws to Read program from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, April 21, at the library, 630 N. Sequim Ave. Children can practice their reading skills by reading to therapy dogs. This program, suited for children ages 6 and up, will continue at 10 a.m. on the third Saturday of each month through June.

Clallam County invites citizens to attend public forums to study and comment on the Shoreline Master Program Update. The draft document is located at www.clallam.net/RealEstate/html/draft_smp.htm or in the Clallam County SMP Key Documents binder at the public libraries.

A forum meets in Sequim from 12:30-3p.m. Wednesday, April 25, at Pioneer Memorial Park, 387 E. Washington St.

Grinnell addresses hospital guild meeting

Elaine Grinnell, elder and renowned storyteller of the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe, speaks on S’Klallam legends and culture and exhibits her handmade baskets at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 25, in the community hall of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 525 N. Fifth Ave., in Sequim.

Senior ball organizers seek glasses

The Sequim High School senior class is seeking donations of wine glasses to use for sparkling cider at the SHS senior ball.

The ball is slated for May 5; organizers hope to have all donations of glasses by May 1.
