County warns of DOL letter error

Clallam County Auditor Shoona Riggs is informing Clallam County residents about a letter incorrectly generated on Aug. 4 by the Washington State Department of Licensing. These letters are notifying vehicle owners that their personalized plates will be canceled.

Vehicle owners should ignore this letter if it is dated Aug. 4, 2021. Customers who were sent a letter in error do not need to take any additional action if they have a registration with the personalized plates that is current. Correction letters will be sent this week from the Department of Licensing.

“We recognize the distress this is causing vehicle owners,” Clallam County Auditor Shoona Riggs said in a press release. “Department of Licensing is reviewing how the error occurred.”
