Forum on Lincoln Theatre set
The Light Up the Lincoln committee will host a forum updating the status of the Lincoln Theatre in Port Angeles as an arts venue from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, June 25, at the Landing Mall, 115 E. Railroad Ave., Port Angeles. Karen Hanan, executive director, ArtsWA, is the special guest.
OPHS benefit is Saturday
“For the Birds (and Other Critters),” an art/craft show and sale will be from 1-5 p.m. Saturday, June 27, at Olympic Cellars Winery, 255410 Highway 101. Sales from the show will benefit the Olympic Peninsula Humane Society. Artists include Patricia Ford, Sharon Prosser, Maryann Proctor, Nancy Lawrence and Natalie Brown. Enjoy a glass of wine along with the art and support the Olympic Peninsula Humane Society.
EAA group to meet
Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 430 will meet at 10 a.m. Sunday, June 28, at Hanger 10 at the Sequim Valley Airport. The program is by Oshkosh EAA on how propellers are made, the commemorative World War II aircraft fly-over of Washington, D.C., the new LSA version of the Bearhawk experimental and Homebuilder’s Hints. A potluck will follow the meeting.
Sequim Arts group to meet
Sequim Arts will have a meeting Thursday, June 25, with a spring luncheon beginning at 9:30 a.m., business meeting at 10 a.m. and a presentation by artist Jeff Tocher.
Geologist speaks about Clallam fault
On June 29, Dr. Tim Walsh, chief hazards geologist for the Washington State Department of Natural Resources, will be making a presentation to the Clallam County Board of Commissioners on the “Lake Creek/Lake Boundary Fault” that runs east and west through Clallam County.
The presentation will take place at 9 a.m. in Room 160, the commissioners meeting room in the courthouse at 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles, and is open to the public.
Apple questions to be answered at SMUG meeting
The Strait Mac User’s Group will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, at the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St. Back by popular demand, there will be a Roundtable event with four local Apple experts to answer any Apple questions you may have and to offer some tips, tricks and good practices on the full range of Apple products. Tax rate changes affect Clallam County
Consumers in Clallam County will pay a little less in sales tax on purchases starting July 1. Shoppers in Clallam County will pay two-tenths of one percent less in sales and use tax for a total tax rate of 8.2 percent. The reduction reflects the county’s decision to reduce its Optional Tax component, from a half a percent to three-tenths of a percent. The rate change only affects unincorporated Clallam County. Local sales tax rates within the cities of Forks, Port Angeles and Sequim will not change.

PFOA benefit set for July 11
Harbinger Winery, 2358 W. Highway 101 in Port Angeles, is hosting Peninsula Friends of Animals “Feline Fine at Harbinger Wine” from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, July 11. Admission is by donation with tastes of Mt. Townsend artisan cheeses and WeDo Fudge. Live music will be by PufnStuff. The Kit Kat Room Boutique will be open and there will be a raffle plus wine, beer and Bedford Sodas available for purchase. A percentage of the evening’s proceeds are donated to PFOA including a special bottling of “Meowrlot.” Funds raised supports Peninsula Friends of Animals.
