Fire District 3 receives clean audit

Clallam County Fire District 3’s board of commissioners recently announced it received a clean audit for 2022.

The Washington State Auditor’s Office describes the audit process as a way citizens can see what is being done right and if anything needs to be improved in local government. As part of their risk assessment, the auditor thoroughly examines District functions, including, accounts receivable, accounts payable, purchases, and more.

Commissioners said via press release they are proud the auditor’s office issued no findings or other recommendations during this audit period which continues the district’s long trend of clean audits.

They added that it’s a team effort with a commitment to fiscal integrity. They especially thanked finance manager Alwynn Whitaker for her diligent efforts over the past several months in gathering information and addressing the auditor’s queries. “Her dedication has been invaluable and is sincerely acknowledged,” commissioners said.
