Fire District 3 sets parameters in response to COVID-19 outbreak

To help in the efforts to minimize the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus, Fire District 3 officials have closed all staffed stations to public use and suspended all public events and classes until further notice.

In a press release from District 3 assistant chief Dan Orr, fire district officials noted that residents needing emergency assistance can use red phones located at the front door of each station for assistance.

The district also suspended all group training drills with the district firefighters and EMTs along with all CERT () program and CPR training sessions.

The classroom at the District 3 headquarters station at 323 N. Fifth Ave. is not available for public use, officials said.

”As one of the community’s public safety providers, the district has an obligation to sustain the ability to deliver essential services that our responders provide,” Fire District 3 officials said in a press release on March 18. “But to be effective, this must be approached as a shared responsibility between the district, the citizens we serve, and our members who make it all possible.”
