The Clallam County Department of Community Development will hold regional public forums in January on the November 2014 Draft Shoreline Master Program (SMP).

Attend a January public forum to hear about the 2014 Draft SMP, become familiar with shoreline matters and offer your feedback.

In February, the Clallam County Planning Commission, a citizen advisory body, will hold regional public hearings on the November 2014 Draft SMP to obtain public input to help them prepare and forward a recommended SMP to the Board of Clallam County Commissioners.

The 2014 Draft SMP is a proposed update to the county’s nearly 40-year-old SMP. The SMP generally applies to lakes (20 acres or larger), rivers and streams with flow over 20 cfs, and marine waters; areas within 200 feet of the ordinary high water mark or floodway of such water bodies; and associated wetlands, floodplains and critical areas.

It is a comprehensive use plan for shoreline areas that includes goals and policies, shoreline environmental designation maps, use and development regulations, and administrative procedures for the shoreline permitting process.

Dates and times for the upcoming CDC forums follow:
