Learn about new pollution plan

The public is invited to attend a meeting to learn more about the newly drafted Pollution Identification & Correction (PIC) Plan for the Sequim-Dungeness Clean Water District.

The public is invited to attend a meeting to learn more about the newly drafted Pollution Identification & Correction (PIC) Plan for the Sequim-Dungeness Clean Water District.

The meeting will be from 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, at the Dungeness Schoolhouse, 2781 Towne Road in Sequim.

The meeting will include a brief presentation of the draft PIC plan which is being officially released for public review.

According to Andy Brastad, director of Clallam County Health and Human Services Environmental Health Section, “The draft PIC plan helps coordinate work, develop partnerships and creates efficiencies in working to improve water quality in our rivers, streams and marine waters.”

Hard copies of the plan will be available at the Sequim and Port Angeles libraries, Environmental Health office in the Clallam County Courthouse, as well as at the Conservation District’s office, 228 W. First St. (Armory Square Building) in Port Angeles.

Electronic copies of the plan also are available on the Conservation District’s website at www.clallamcd.org and can be e-mailed upon request. Comments on the plan will be accepted through Dec. 22.

The meeting also will include information on an upcoming PIC pilot project that will be used to test out the newly drafted PIC plan.

Clallam County Health and Human Services – Environmental Health Section received funding from the Washington State Department of Health to implement a pilot project that incorporates procedures contained in the newly developed plan in a sub-watershed located in the lower Dungeness area within the Clean Water District.

Staff will share plans for the PIC Pilot Project, which is slated to begin in January.
