Through Nov. 28, more than 70 pieces of original artwork from 31 fiber artists are on display at the Museum and Arts Center, 175 W. Cedar St., Sequim, as part of the North Olympic Fiber Arts Festival that was held Oct. 2-4.

In its fourth year, curator and coordinator Renne Emiko Brock-Richmond has seen more entries than before.

"The medium is so expansive," she said.

"This shows that."

The theme this year is "Cultural Fiber – Civilization, Ethos and Strength of Character."

Brock-Richmond says the exhibit is "an opportunity to revel in images, messages and stories of character, conscience, conduct and courage to celebrate the satisfaction fiber arts creates.

"As one of the oldest art forms, fiber arts is recognized worldwide as a medium that demands loving cultivation of its technique and difficult, dedicated study."

The theme for the 2010 exhibit is "Your Daily Fiber – Conspicuous Consumption, Community and Ceremony."

The center’s next First Friday showing is 5-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6.
