John Gort of Port Angeles was presented with the Fly Tying Hall of Fame Award from the Washington Council of the International Federation of Fly Fishers at the May Fly Fishing Fair in Ellensburg.

This prestigious award is based not only on fly-tying skill but also on creativity and innovation in the art and the ability to share that knowledge with others by teaching and/or publication.

Gort is a member of the Olympic Peninsula Fly Fishers and is recognized throughout the Northwest for his fly-tying skills and his willingness to instruct those just learning the art and to help seasoned veterans reach new skill levels.
