The Clallam County Auditor’s office will mail new voter identification cards to all 45,500 active registered voters in Clallam County this week. The law requires that voters be notified of changes to their precincts as a result of redistricting and combining precincts.

Each new card reflects the name and number of the new precinct, as well as the voter’s name and mailing address.

Not all precincts had changes, but Clallam County Auditor Patty Rosand chose to mail new cards to all voters because most would not have received a new card in the past 10 years unless they had moved.

Unlike ballots, the ID cards will be forwarded to a new address. A voter whose ballot has been forwarded should contact the Clallam County Auditor’s office at 417-2221 or go online to www.myvote.wa.gov to change the address information.

A voter who has changed names must fill out a new voter registration form providing a new signature; or, if the voter already has obtained a new Washington driver’s license, he or she can go to MyVote and change the name online.

If a voter registration card returns to the auditor’s office as “undeliverable,” staff will change the status of that voter to inactive and no ballot will be mailed for the next election until the voter contacts the office.

Any voter who does not get a new registration card in the mail by April 27 should contact the auditor’s office to verify address and status of registration.

Ballots for the Aug. 7 primary election are scheduled to be mailed out on July 18.
