None injured in storage building fire on Toad Road

A structure fire in the morning hours of Sunday, June 11, on Toad Road damaged a detached storage building but did not result in any injuries, Clallam County Fire District 3 reporters.

The PenCom dispatch center received a 911 call that a large fire could be seen on Toad Road just north of U.S. Highway 101. Firefighters made an offensive fire attack and controlled the fire while protecting two nearby homes within 30 minutes.

Fire crews overhauled the area and extinguished several hot-spots.

District representatives noted that homeowners stated that they were alerted by the sounds of electrical crackling outside their window and called 911 to alert responders of the fire.

Six district units and 10 responders were on the scene. Clallam County PUD also arrived and secured power, as a live powerline was on the ground during fire operations.

Fire District 3 personnel remind residents to minimize fire hazards from vegetation by cleaning up outside areas and create defensive space around their homes, as the Clallam County Burn Ban approaches on July 1.
