Olympic Community Action Programs (OlyCAP) has received more than $200,000 from Clallam County to help local residents impacted by COVID-19 with rent and mortgage assistance.
Funds must be used by Oct. 31, so residents are encouraged to apply immediately, OlyCAp representatives said last week.
Qualifying households must have experienced a 50 percent drop in household income for at least 30 days since March 17 because of the COVID-19 public health emergency.
The household must also have a monthly rent or mortgage payment greater than 30 percent of their income as measured from the past 30 days and be in arrears.
Eligible residents can receive one month’s assistance in an amount not to exceed $2,000.
As with all OlyCAP housing assistance, vouchers are issued directly to landlords or mortgage companies.
“We really hope to assist people who may have never heard of OlyCAP before and are not familiar with the social service agencies,” Kathy Morgan, Director of Housing at OlyCAP, said.
“We hope to help those that may not meet the criteria for the Emergency Rent Assistance Program program and will be working with our partners at Serenity house to receive referrals.”
