Olympic Medical Physicians adds advanced nurse practitioner to staff

Olympic Medical Center recently announced the addition of Amy Kalisek, advanced registered nurse practitioner, to the Olympic Medical Heart Center cardiology team.

Kalisek joins OMC after seven years of nursing experience, most recently in Colorado where she earned her nurse practitioner degree.

She will see patients at the OMP Specialty Clinic in Port Angeles.

“We are thrilled to welcome Amy Kalisek to our cardiology team,” said Dr. Kara Urnes, cardiologist and Olympic Medical Heart Center medical director.

“As a recent graduate of her nurse practitioner program in Colorado, she brings strong cardiology skills from her time in the critical care unit and intensive care unit as a registered nurse.”

Kalisek received her undergraduate degree in nursing from University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora. She worked as a traveling nurse early in her career before moving into roles in critical and intensive care units.

“Cardiology has a remarkable combination of acute and chronic conditions that allows me to work on both ends of the spectrum,” Kalisek said.

“Spending time educating my patients about their illnesses can be very rewarding, and it gives me the opportunity to help them better understand their individual needs and help them set their health care goals.”

Kalisek earned a Master of Science in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner from Regis University in Denver, Colorado in 2020.

She has extensive experience working with cardiovascular patients, OMC representatives said.

“Through these experiences, I played an important role in improving health outcomes for my patients through education and advocacy,” Kalisek said.

“I look forward to using my knowledge and experience to care for my patients here on the Olympic Peninsula.”

Kalisek joins Urnes, Dr. Robert Henson, Dr. James Emery and advance nurse practitioner Tracy Zaher-Lee as a team of cardiology providers offering heart care to patients on the Peninsula.
