Olympic Medical Home Health was recognized last month as one of the top 100 Medicare-certified home health care agencies in the nation, its administrator told Olympic Medical Center’s board of directors at its Nov. 19 meeting.

The 22-year-old agency is one of three in Washington to receive the honor from among 8,200 nationwide. It also was named in the top 100 in 2006 and the top 500 in 2007.

"This really doesn’t happen by chance, it’s the result of a plan. We continue to fine tune our quality group," said Fran Sisson, Olympic Medical Home Health administrator.

The agency serves up to 250 patients in an area that covers all of Clallam County plus west Jefferson County and includes clients who live in housing that ranges from mansions to log cabins to trailers, she said.

OMC administrator Eric Lewis said, "They are getting better at all the measures. They are well above the national average. It’s a huge, huge accomplishment."

The ranking was based upon an agency’s quality of care, quality improvement and financial performance as detailed in the Federal Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ "home health compare and cost reports."

Sisson said the ranking is evidence that their teamwork approach to patients works.

"Our clinical staff is highly skilled and dedicated to providing quality care and our leadership team provides the direction and support to enable our clinical staff to meet the care requirements of our patients.

"Olympic Medical Home Health works as a team serving our community every day and we are pleased to receive this distinction as recognition for this effort," Sisson said.
