PMGS announces upcoming release of holiday album

Signing to take place in Sequim on Dec. 11

The men of the Peninsula Men’s Gospel Singers are calling out with joy.

"O Holy Night," the group’s holiday CD, is set to release this month.

Director Michael Rivers said in a recent press release, "My singers have outdone themselves! Individually and collectively they have worked tremendously hard and have created a beautiful collection of carols and anthems that celebrate the birth of Jesus."

The 13-track album includes a cappella and accompanied versions of "O Holy Night," "Joy to the World," "Ave Maria," "Ding Dong Merrily on High" and a selection of other familiar and joyous songs.

Special guest Kristin Q. Brye plays the piano and Sharon Snel plays the flute.

Mastered and duplicated in Seattle, the CD will release in Sequim during a signing and sales celebration from 2-4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, at The Good Book store, 108 W. Washington St., and in Port Angeles from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14, at Coldwell Banker Uptown Realty, 1115 E. Front St. The public is invited to attend both parties.

The PMGS is an ecumenical group of male singers from more than a half dozen churches and denominations in the Sequim and Port Angeles areas. The group’s music includes hymns, spirituals, contemporary gospel and classical arrangements of sacred songs.

In addition to the group’s annual spring concert, PMGS presents numerous performances at churches, senior centers, retirement facilities, convalescent centers and prisons throughout the year.

Previous CDs include "Precious Lord," "Steal Away" and "Grace."
