OMC offering pediatric COVID vaccinations at PA clinic

Olympic Medical Center is offering the pediatric Pfizer vaccine to children of ages 5-11.

Pfizer vaccination is currently offered for all residents, ages 5 and up, from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. each Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at the OMC Front Street Clinic, 901 E. Front St., Port Angeles.

OMC is adding capacity and offering additional access for pediatric COVID-19 vaccine administration 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. at the OMC Front Street Clinic on Friday-Sunday, Nov. 12-14, and Friday-Sunday, Nov. 19-21.

Children are now eligible to receive a 10-microgram dose of the Pfizer vaccine. This is one-third the adult dose (given to those 12 and over), and is given in two doses, spaced three weeks apart.

Children are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after the second dose, clinic representatives note; the Pfizer vaccine is the only current authorized vaccine for children of this age group.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends everyone ages 5 and older get a COVID-19 vaccine.
