“Probate Records for Genealogists” is the topic presented at the November meeting of the Clallam County Genealogical Society, set for 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, Nov. 14.

The meeting, open to the public and free, is at the Raymond Carver Room of the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St.

Whereas probate records are legal documents that may present a wealth of information to the researcher, they sometimes are difficult to locate and the terminology obscure. The guest speaker is Clair Smith, vice president and former president of the Bainbridge Island Genealogical Society. She is an experienced genealogist who has completed the University of Washington’s “Genealogy and Family History” certificate program.

Participants are encouraged to arrive 15-20 minutes before the start of the meeting to register, have a cup of coffee and visit.

For more information, call the Clallam County Genealogical Society, Tuesday-Friday, at 417-5000, or see www.clallamcogs.org.
