Reyes, Clallam Sheriff’s deputy, retires

On Aug. 26, retiring Detective Tom Reyes was recognized by the Clalllam County Board of County Commissioners for his 30 years of service as a deputy sheriff.

On Aug. 26, retiring Detective Tom Reyes was recognized by the Clalllam County Board of County Commissioners for his 30 years of service as a deputy sheriff.

Sheriff Bill Benedict presented Reyes with the Sheriff’s Star for 30 years of exceptional service and self-sacrifice as set forth in the following citation:

“Detective Tom Reyes’ 30 years of service as a Deputy Sheriff with the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office has been marked by a deep and abiding dedication to public safety, ethical service with humility and compassion, and excellence in day to day performance.

“During Detective Reyes’ years of service he performed exceptionally in virtually all aspects of CCSO’s law enforcement programs which included corrections deputy, patrol deputy, traffic safety deputy, K9 deputy, detective, hostage negotiator, safe schools coordinator and sheriff’s honor guard. He successfully investigated countless cases including major homicides, major assaults, complex rape cases and intricate fraud and embezzlement investigations. “During his career, Detective Reyes received 11 Commendation Awards, two Merit Awards, one Meritorious Service Award, two Meritorious Unit Citations and a Letter of Commendation from the Sheriff.

“Detective Reyes has provided the citizen’s of Clallam County immeasurable comfort in times of pain or loss and satisfaction in the knowledge that their personal safety and well-being is his highest priority. Detective Reyes’ service and commitment to a safe community is in the highest traditions of the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office.”
