Krumpe named to Whitworth’s society

Breanna Krumpe of Sequim has been named to the Whitworth University Laureate Society for fall semester 2010.

Krumpe, a 2009 graduate of Sequim High School, qualified for the academic honors society by maintaining a grade-point average of at least 3.75 during the semester.

Whitworth is a private liberal arts university affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA) in Spokane.

Parenting class teaches to take care of self

A free, six-week class helping parents set goals, identify and reduce stress, communicate, cope with tough situations and make decisions comes to the First Teacher room (Room 4W, Sequim Community School, 220 W. Alder St.) starting in April.

The class meets each Thursday from April 7-May 12 and is taught by George and Annette Lindamood.

There will be light refreshments and child care is available. Attendees receive a free book.

Grange accepts applications

Sequim Prairie Grange is accepting scholarship applications through April 30 from graduating seniors and college students continuing their studies. An applicant must be a member or a child, grandchild or great-grandchild of a current member, or of a deceased life-member of the Sequim Prairie Grange.

Symphony rehearsal free to children, families

The Port Angeles Symphony invites children to bring their families to a dress rehearsal and special presentation about “Music Made in the USA” at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 12, at the Port Angeles High School Auditorium, 304 Park Ave., Port Angeles.

Gentle Paws come to library

Olympic Gentle Paws will have their dogs at the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody Street, from 11-noon on Saturday, March 19.

Symphony rehearsal free to children, families

The Port Angeles Symphony invites children to bring their families to a dress rehearsal and special presentation about “Music Made in the USA” at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 12, at the Port Angeles High School Auditorium, 304 Park Ave., Port Angeles.

As they rehearse for the evening’s concert, conductor Adam Stern and the orchestra will provide musical and historical commentary about the selections, which include Copland’s “An Outdoor Overture” and Grofé’s “Grand Canyon Suite.”
