Haller takes over Sequim McDonald’s tonight

Helen Haller Elementary Parent Teacher Organization hosts a McTakeover from 6-8 p.m. today, Nov. 4, at the Sequim McDonald’s, 107 S. Seventh Ave.

The fundraising event is open to all community members, as well as students, families, staff and teachers from the school.

During the event, 40 percent of the sales go to the school PTO. An additional 10 percent of the sales benefit the Ronald McDonald House charity.

Coupon books are for sale for $5 each and have a value of more than $27. Books also are available in the school office on Nov. 4.

Students are encouraged to bring their families, friends and neighbors to the event.

Proceeds will be used for school activities, supplies and events.

Sequim students make grade at U.W.

Six students from the Sequim area, each of them seniors at the University of Washington, were named to the school’s dean’s list for summer quarter 2009.

They are Yung-Chun Chen, Samuel Ketcham, Amy Lange, Brian Slattery, Jennifer Tivald and Jermaine Treadwell.

The qualify for the dean’s list, a student must complete at least 12 graded credit hours with a grade-point average of at least 3.50.

Eaton named

to CLU dean’s list

Aaron Eaton of Sequim was named to the spring 2009 semester dean’s list at California Lutheran University.

Eaton, a 2008 graduate of Sequim High School, is a sophomore at CLU with a multimedia major.

To qualify for the dean’s list, a CLU student maintains a 3.50 grade-point-average.

Head Start

has openings

There are openings in the Early Head Start program at Sequim Community School, 220 W. Alder St.

Early Head Start is a federally funded, community-based program for low-income families with infants or toddlers and pregnant women.

The program’s goals are to promote healthy prenatal outcomes for pregnant women, to enhance the development of very young children and to promote healthy family functioning.
