Dahll finishes year strong at maritime school

Andrew Dahll, a 2009 graduate of Sequim High School, finished his first year at the California Maritime Academy, where he is majoring in marine transportation. Dahll earned dean’s list status at the school and was awarded two good conduct awards. He also received a scholarship from the Puget Sound Pilots Association for his upcoming sophomore year. Dahll is the son of Martin and Denise Dahll and brother of Chris and Matt Dahll.

Oswood gets master’s

Kathryn Oswood of Sequim received a Master of Education degree in curriculum and instruction from Seattle Pacific University on June 13.

Oswood is an elementary school teacher with the Marysville School District. The Tulalip tribes selected her as Educator of the Year for her dedication and positive impact with Native American students. Oswood is a 2000 graduate of Sequim High School. She received her undergraduate degree from Western Washington University. She is the daughter of Tom and Gail Dosey of Sequim.

5 named to Eastern’s dean’s list

Five students from the Sequim area were named to Eastern Washington University’s dean’s list for spring quarter 2010. They are Derrell Jensen, Erin Pallai, Alexander Smyth, Sarah Stuart Keltonic and Chelsea Twiss.

To earn dean’s list status, students must maintain at least a 3.50 grade-point average with at least 12 credit hours.

First Teacher hosts parent, reading times

First Teacher, located in Room 4W at Sequim Community School (220 W. Alder St.), is home to several programs this summer.

Join other parents and children for Reading Time at 10 a.m. each Monday. Guest readers this month are: Sue Clary (July 19) and Darcie Clawson (July 26). Each child receives a book. Mondays bring Parent Time. This month, events include: Carol Kruckeberg and her autoharp (July 16), kid crafts

(July 23) and sack snack time (July 30).
