Leap into storytime

Wednesday, Sept. 15, kicks off fall storytimes at the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave.

The free storytimes are to give children positive introductions to books and reading and to provide information about early literacy to parents and caregivers.

Toddler storytimes, for children 18 months through 3 years, are at 10 a.m. Wednesdays, Sept. 15-Dec. 15. Preschool storytimes, for children 4-5, are at 11 a.m. on the same Wednesdays.

At 6:30 p.m. Thursdays, Oct. 14-Nov. 18 and Dec. 9, youths of all ages are invited to wear their pajamas and bring their favorite stuffed animal to the library for a special evening storytime.

Building group looks for scholarship prospects

The Building Industry Association of Washington awards scholarships to students pursuing careers in the building trades.

Applications are due Nov. 15.

Montoya, Winnop earn Whitworth degrees

Lisa Montoya and Kori Winnop, both of Sequim, earned bachelor’s degrees from Whitworth University in Spokane.

Montoya, a 2006 Sequim High School graduate, graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in theater.

Winnop, also a 2006 Sequim High School graduate, graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree.

Jewelry-making for teens

A free jewelry-making workshop for teens in grades 7-12 starts at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, at the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave.

Lauren Johnson, owner of Udjat Beads in Port Angeles, will teach basic jewelry-making skills and provide all supplies. Participants will create a pendant or pair of earrings.

Space is limited and preregistration is

required.
