Sequim Science Cafe director Jodi Olson announced this week that the Sequim Science Café begins it second year with a presentation by Rich Quinnell on “Micro-Controllers & The Internet of Things," starting at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 10, at the Paradise Restaurant, 703 N. Sequim Ave., Sequim.

Quinnell is editor-in-chief of the award-winning Microcontroller Central website. A Gardiner resident, Quinnell has covered electronics technology for more than 25 years, reporting on topics for the EDN, EE Times and other publications.

Prior to becoming a technical journalist Quinnell had spent more than a decade as an embedded systems designer and engineering project manager for companies such as Matrix Imaging, Cooper LaserSonics and the Johns Hopkins University’s Applied Physics Laboratory. He has degrees in electrical engineering and applied physics, with additional graduate work in communications, computer design and quantum electronics.  

The Sequim Science Café is an outreach of Sequim Education Foundation. Expert speakers host informal discussions in a relaxed café environment for adults interested in deepening their understanding of science and technology.

The Café meets from 6:30-8 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month at the Paradise Restaurant. Adults invited to enjoy the conversation. Admission is free. Food and beverages are available.
