Seniors make Shipley Center’s open house a success

Hundreds of people packed the Shipley Center, Sequim’s senior center, on Sept. 15, for its ninth annual open house. Instructors and members got a chance to show off their skills at hula and tap dancing, ukulele playing and more throughout the afternoon as board members and staff gave updates on the center.

Michelle Rhodes, development and programs director, said the center continues to offer more than 140 hours of activities each month along with about 120 trips a year such as to Iceland.

She said the The Cafe at Shipley Center, which opened in May 2016, continues to grow too. It’s open to the public with to-go orders and catering available from 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Monday-Friday.
