Sequim schools set kindergarten readiness, registration events

Sequim School District offers an all-day kindergarten program. Students need to be 5 years old on or before Aug. 31 to attend kindergarten in the fall.

A kindergarten registration event for fall 2017 will be held at both Sequim elementary schools on Monday, May 1.

In addition, Helen Haller Elementary School also is offering a kindergarten readiness meeting for parents from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, in the school library.

School boundaries

The elementary school Sequim students attend is dictated by residence.

A map showing the elementary school boundary line is posted on the school district’s website (www.sequim.k12.wa.us); click “Our District,” then “Schools” and “Elementary School Boundary Line.”

Seventh Avenue is the dividing line between Helen Haller and Greywolf attendance areas. Students residing west of the dividing line need to register and attend Greywolf Elementary.

Those parents/guardians unsure which school zone in which they reside can check with the district by calling 582-3260.

Sequim schools are not be accepting out-of-attendance or out-of-district requests for the new school year, with exception of those categories protected by law.
