Sequim High School senior Taylor Roads went home from school Thursday $100 richer for her prize-winning design in the annual Sequim Education Foundation Film Festival Poster Contest.

Her graphic will go on display to invite Sequim School District residents to the foundation’s Student Film Festival and spaghetti dinner fundraiser on April 16.

Festival chairwoman Elna Kawal said this year’s contest drew 54 entries.

“Each year, entries in both the poster and film festival competitions get better and better,” Kawal said.

“It’s really thrilling to see how creative our students are.”

Roads said she’ll save her winnings for college. She will graduate from high school in June and enroll in the Northwest School of the Arts on Bainbridge Island in the fall.

“I like traditional fine art,” she said, “and want to do something in art and design when I graduate.”

The festival competition will start at 7 p.m. Friday, April 16, in the Sequim High School Performing Arts Building, 601 N. Sequim Ave. The spaghetti dinner will precede it at 5 p.m. in the high school cafeteria.

Tickets for both events cost $15 for adults, $10 for students. Tickets for the
film competition alone cost $5. For more information on the foundation, visit www.
