Two local young ladies recently received Girl of the Month honors from Soroptimist International of Sequim.

Maryclair Torres was named Girl of the Month for December 2025. Torres is a sophomore who enjoys her English Language Arts class and considers it her favorite. She is on the cheer team, plays flag football and basketball, and when not busy with school activities, works at Sunny Farms. She hopes to attend college and pursue a career in law enforcement.

For January, the distinction went to Kamrie McMahon, a sophomore whose favorite class is choir. She believes that singing brings out the best in her, and she thinks of the choir as a big family. Looking ahead to her future, McMahon plans to attend Peninsula College to study early childhood education, as she loves working with children.
