The National Society of High School Scholars announced Sequim High School student Sarah Stoffer has been selected for membership.

The society recognizes top scholars and invites only those students who have achieved academic excellence. The announcement was made by NSHSS Founder and Chairman Claes Nobel, a senior member of the family that established the Nobel Prizes.

Stoffer is the 17-year-old daughter of Jim and Diana Stoffer. She will be starting her senior year at Sequim High School in the fall. She is a member of the Soroptimists’ Women in Networks program and a leader in Link Crew Program at the high school. She also is a soprano in the Sequim High School Select Choir and recently traveled with 30 of her fellow choir mates to New York to sing at Carnegie Hall.

After graduating high school, she will be traveling with the Ambassadors of Washington Honor Band and Choir for a European summer concert tour in July 2012. Afterward she plans to attend a four-year university and major in history with a minor in music.

Membership in the NSHSS entitles qualified students to enjoy a variety of benefits, including scholarship opportunities, academic competitions, free events, member-only resources, publications, participation in programs offered by educational partners, online forums, personalized recognition items and publicity honors.
