Trio injured in Sunday collision

One Sequim man and two Port Angeles residents were injured in a two-car collision at about 11:45 a.m. on Sept. 28 near Lake Sutherland on U.S. Highway 101.

One Sequim man and two Port Angeles residents were injured in a two-car collision at about 11:45 a.m. on Sept. 28 near Lake Sutherland on U.S. Highway 101.

According to a Washington State Patrol report, Ryan V. Wetterlund, 29, of Port Angeles, was turning a 2004 Ford Ranger pickup truck off of Highway 101 south onto Thompson Point Road when it struck a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Scott Lee Penson, 55, of Sequim, in the highway’s eastbound lane. Wetterlund and Joy L. Wetterlund, 29, also of Port Angeles, and Penson were all reported injured and taken to Olympic Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Ryan Wetterlund was charged with failure to yield, according to the state patrol report.
