Babe Ruth state tourney starts Friday in P.A.

Wilder Baseball and Port Angeles Parks & Recreation are hosting the North Washington 16-18 Year Old Babe Ruth State Tournament at Civic Field beginning on Friday, July 11, with five teams from around the state competing in a round-robin format.

The top team earns a berth to the World Series to be held in Ephrata in August and the runner-up advances to the Regional Tournament in Vancouver, Wa., with one more shot at a World Series spot.

The Wilder Seniors, coming off their Firecracker tournament championship last weekend, will be the host team. Wilder Juniors will also participate, and are ready to make some noise.

Action starts Friday morning with Wilder Juniors taking on Columbia Basin Desert Dogs at 11 a.m. Then the Wilder Seniors play the Spokane Crew at 2 p.m. The 5 p.m. game matches the Wilder Juniors and Lakeside Recovery.

Saturday has Spokane Crew vs. Columbia Basin at 11 a.m., Wilder Seniors vs. Lakeside Recovery at 2 p.m. and Wilder Juniors vs. Spokane Crew at 5 p.m.

Sunday’s games are: Columbia Basin vs. Lakeside Recovery at 9 a.m., Wilder Seniors vs. Wilder Juniors at 11:30 a.m., Lakeside Recovery vs. Spokane Crew at 2:30 p.m., and Wilder Seniors vs. Columbia Basin at 5:30 p.m. All games are at Civic Field, and there is no admission fee for spectators.
