Baseball: North Mason ace shuts out Wolves

Sequim kept it close with league powerhouse North Kitsap before the Vikings erupted for eight runs in the sixth inning in a 15-2 Wolves loss on March 22.

“We played one of our better games and competed with them for five solid innings,” Sequim coach Dave Ditlefsen said.

Braiden White went 2-for-3 with a double, Tommy Reandeau had two hits and Conor Bear was 1-for-3 with an RBI in the loss.

North Kitsap, led by Cole Edwards (3-for-3, 3 RBIs) and Colton Bower (double, 3 RBIs) took advantage of some Sequim wildness on the mound, drawing 13 bases on balls.

Bulldog freshman dominates

Sequim came within two runs of picking up their first win of the season, but Bulldog starter Boston Stanely had other plans.

The North Mason freshman tossed a complete game one-hit shutout, striking out nine and walking two in a 1-0 North Mason win on March 24.

Jaxson Gray had the lone hit, a double, for the Wolves while Ayden Holland and Conor Bear each drew walks. Pinch-runner Tommy Reandeau had a steal.

Bear nearly matched Stanley, tossing five innings of one-run, two-hit ball. He struck out five and walked two. Ricky Jennings tossed a scoreless inning of relief, striking out two.

Bentley Fisk had an RBI double in the third inning to drive in the game’s only run.

Sequim dropped a 16-5 decision at Anacortes on March 26 and were slated to hist Kingston on March 28; details for both games were not available at press time.
