Bosy basketball: Wolves earn split in non-league games

A tight contest for two quarters, Sequim’s Wolves rode a strong second half to knock off visiting 1A Granite Falls 78-43 on Dec. 29.

The Wolves (1-3 in Olympic League play, 3-5 overall) led 21-17 and 44-34 at halftime before out-scoring the Tigers 34-9 in the second half.

Vince Carrizosa led four SHS players in double figures with 15 points.

Isaiah Moore had 13 points, Keenan Green had 11 and Zack Thompson chipped in 10, as 10 Sequim players scored.

Gavin Toland led Granite Falls with 16 points, sinking five 3-pointers.

On Dec. 27, Sequim fell 60-44 to a tough WF West team in Sequim, as the Chehalis-based squad improved to 5-2 on the young season.

Soren Dalan, a 6-foot-11 senior center, scored 10 of his game-high 16 points in the first quarter as the Bearcats jumped out to an 18-9 lead.

Sequim trimmed the deficit to 29-21 by halftime, but WF West out-scored the Wolves 23-11 in the third quarter, thanks to a quartet of Parker Eiswald 3-pointers.

Moore led Sequim with 14 points and Thompson added 11.

Sequim coach Craig Brooks had high praise for Thompson, the senior point guard.

“Zach … played great for us. [He] handled the ball and led our team,” Brooks said.

SHS’s Green added nine points.

Sequim was scheduled to play at Sumner on Dec. 30 and host Kingston on Jan. 3; results were not available at press time.

The Wolves are at Olympic on Jan. 5 before hosting Bellingham on Jan. 7.

Sequim plays host to rival Port Angeles on Jan. 10; game time is 7 p.m.
