A late surge by Vashon helped the host pirates edge Sequim’s Wolves 60-56 on Dec. 10 in a non-league match-up.

The loss dropped the Wolves to 0-3 for the week and 1-3 on the young season.

Sequim topped Fife 62-54 in the Wolves’ season-opener on Dec. 3, then fell to 3A Bainbridge in their home and Olympic League opener on Dec. 6, 62-35.

Sequim dropped a 67-60 decision at Bremerton on Dec. 8.

Against Vashon, Sequim led 26-23 at halftime and 42-38 after three quarters before being out-scored 60-56 in the final frame.

SHS’s Vince Carrizosa and Keenan Green paced the offense with 17 points each, combining to shoot 8-of-17 from 3-point range.

Charlie Grider led the team with 18 rebounds and Lars Wiker had a team-high four assists.

Rhys Carleton led the 1A Pirates with 22 points and eight rebounds, while Julian Tooman had 18 points and six assists.

Sequim was scheduled to host high-ranked North Kitsap on Dec. 13 — results were not available at press time.
