The Wolves look to cement their path toward the 2A state championship Saturday in Kent.

They play the Hockinson Hawks of Brush Prairie (14-10 overall) Feb. 23 at 4 p.m. at Kent-Meridian High School, 10020 SE 256th St.

Sequim (20-4) looks to shake off a regional districts championship loss on Feb. 18 to the Clover Park Warriors, who won 60-45.

If the Wolves defeat Hockinson, they could be pitted against Clover Park again or the Olympic Trojans, with whom Sequim shares the Olympic League championship.

At the minimum, the Wolves will play at least two games if they beat Hockinson and at the worst be tied for seventh place.

The Hawks defeated Washougal 67-53 to advance to the loser-out game against Sequim with the winner going to the eight-team 2A state bracket.

Olympic beat Kingston 56-54 for the fifth spot from districts to enter the loser-out game against Clover Park.

Sequim is led by Jayson Brocklesby and Gabe Carter, both named to the Olympic League’s all-league first team. Guard Anthony Pinza was named an all-league honorable mention.

Brocklesby scored 22 points against Clover Park and averaged 19.5 points and 8.5 rebounds in the district tourney. Carter notched 10.75 points, 7.75 rebounds, seven assists and 1.75 steals per game in their four games at districts.
