Chapman picked top NWAACC coach

No question who steers this Pirate ship.

Peninsula College head coach Andrew Chapman saw his team turn from a 1-5-1 start to go on a 15-game unbeaten streak and their second consecutive fourth-place finish at the NWAACC tournament this fall.

For his efforts, Chapman was named West Division Coach of the Year, the second time in as many years.

The Pirates finished 12-5-3 in the regular season to earn the West’s third and final playoff spot, and then beat Clark and Whatcom to gain a spot in the NWAACC final four. Peninsula also finished the season unbeaten at home (7-0-2).

The Pirates eventually fell in the NWAACC semifinal, a two-overtime loss to eventual champ Walla Walla.

Peninsula College’s men’s soccer program has improved from just one win in 2003 to 14 wins each of the past two years and four consecutive NWAACC tournament appearances.
