Sequim’s tennis squad gave Klahowya, the defending 2A state co-champions, a tough battle before the Eagles finally prevailed 5-2 on April 29 in Silverdale.

Sequim’s Anna Prorok won a three-set thriller in No. 3 singles play, coming back from a set down to edge Ashley Brynes 4-6, 7-6 (7-2) and 6-3.

Serena Okamoto and Hillary Smith, Sequim’s No. 3 doubles duo, picked up the Wolves’ other win with a 6-2, 6-4 win against Brittany Hassett and Meagan Speigel.

In No. 1 doubles play,

Sequim’s Katrina Chan and Stacy Hanson tested the Eagles’ top squad before falling in a pair of tiebreakers – 7-6 (7-4) and 7-6 (7-2) – to Tracey Landrum and Lacey Newman.

Sequim’s Alice Hastings and Sarah Marble played Klahowya’s No. 4 team close, falling 7-6 (7-4) and 6-4.

Sequim hosts North Mason on May 6 and the Port Townsend/Chimacum squad on May 10 to close out the regular season.
