For the second consecutive week, Sequim’s Wolves outscored their Olympic League foe in the second half.

And for the second week in a row, it wasn’t enough after giving up 30-plus points in the first half.

North Kitsap capitalized on big plays in the opening quarters and held on for a 31-14 win in Poulsbo on Sept. 28, keeping the Wolves winless (0-2 in Olympic League, 0-4 overall) heading into next week’s Homecoming game.

The Vikings (2-0, 2-2) got touchdowns from four players and earned their second league win.

Sean Crowell had a 63-yard run to set up NK’s first score, an Andrew Hecker 20-yard field goal. After a Sequim turnover, tight end Trevor Dennis hauled in a 16-yard toss from NK quarterback Cody Blackmore for a 10-0 Viking lead.

Crowell made it 17-0 North Kitsap on the Vikings’ next drive, scampering in from 34 yards.

Viking backup quarterback Alex Allbee set up NK’s next score, finding Hecker for a 40-yard pass play to the Sequim 15. Running back Kyle North knocked it in from 10 yards out for a 23-0 Viking advantage.

Sequim closed the gap with about five minutes left in the half when Brett Wright took a Miguel Moroles screen 60 yards for a touchdown. Adrian Espinoza’s point-after made it 23-7 North Kitsap.

The Vikings got a score just before halftime with a bit of trickery, as Hecker took a lateral and tossed it to Bryce Hacker for 42 yards and a score with just seven seconds remaining before intermission. North Kitsap led 31-7.

Moroles found Ian Dennis from 15 yards out on a fourth down for the lone second half score, coming with 3:23 left in the third quarter.

Wolves come home to Homecoming

Sequim plays its fourth home game in five Fridays when it takes on the Olympic Trojans on Friday, Oct. 4.

Last season, the Trojans eked out a 13-7 victory in Silverdale.

Halftime festivities include the crowning of Sequim High School King and Queen, Prince and Princess, Duke and Duchess, along with SHS’s junior, sophomore and freshmen class royalty.
