Batters up!

Sequim’s Senior Softball Grey Wolves are back in action this spring, hosting recreational and tournament softball teams for area seniors based out of their “home” fields at Carrie Blake Park.

The club invites all players to participate, aiming to foster, promote and encourage good sportsmanship and to provide positive social interactions while enjoying the game of coed senior softball.

More than 50 members from across the Olympic Peninsula — including Sequim, Port Angeles, Port Townsend, etc. — gather at Carrie Blake Park each Tuesday and Thursday for play, with warmup at 8:30 a.m., batting practice at 9 a.m. and games beginning at 9:30 a.m.

The Grey Wolves are a coed league with age requirements of 55-plus for men and 50-plus for women. The Grey Wolves are a recreational league with greatly varying skill levels.

The club also has a tournament team selected from the league members that travels and competes in senior softball tournaments in the area such as the Washington State Senior Games, the Olympic Peninsula Senior Games and, in October, the World Senior Games in St. George, Utah.
