Sequim-P.A. Babe Ruth showdown

In Babe Ruth inter-league play, First Federal Sequim takes on First Federal Port Angeles at 5:30 p.m. Friday, May 20, at the Sequim High School fields. Organizers plan to make the game an annual event, with employees from each bank attending and a trophy awarded after the game.

SkyRidge hosts ESPN golf challenge

ESPN is searching for America’s best golf duo.

SkyRidge Golf Course, 7015 Old Olympic Highway,

Sequim, hosts an ESPN National Golf Challenge tournament, a two-person better ball event, slated for June 5.

Tee times start at 8:30 a.m.

Cost is $60 per player and $15 per cart seat. Each participant receives a tee gift pack.

Fee includes a dozen Callaway balls, magazine subscription, KPs and more.

Lohrman sinks first hole-in-one

Rich Lohrman of Sequim sank his first hole-in-one, scoring the ace on hole No. 17 at The Cedars at Dungeness on May 10.

Lohrman used a 9 hybrid

to drive the 150-yard hole.

Thompson gets first ace

Denny Thompson sank his first hole-in-one, acing the No. 11 hole at The Cedars at Dungeness on May 14.

Thompson used a 6-iron to drive the 150-yard hole.

Seminar on summer king salmon set

North Olympic Peninsula Chapter of Puget Sound Anglers hosts a seminar, “Fishing for Summer King Salmon,” at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 19, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 Blake Ave., Sequim. Softball slowpitch league opens registration

Sequim Softball League, a coed slowpitch league, has registration open for the 2011 summer season. Teams and players must have applications in by June 4.

Zumba/yoga party set

A zumba/yoga party will be held 2-4 p.m. Saturday, May 21, at the Boys & Girls Club, 400 W. Fir St., Sequim.

The party includes one hour of zumba, one hour of yoga, a bake sale and handmade jewelry for sale.

Comfortable clothing is suggested. Children are welcome. Donations will be accepted.

Junior soccer club opens camps

The Sequim Junior Soccer Club again is teaming up with UK Elite Soccer to provide players and coaches with fun, educational and cutting-edge development opportunities.

Registration is now up and running for players ages 3-14. All programs include a UK Elite T-shirt and soccer ball.

Marathon meeting today

Those wishing to participate as volunteers for the 2011 North Olympic Discovery Marathon are encouraged to attend an informational meeting set for 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, at the Vern Burton Community Center, 308 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.

Course marshals, registration and finish-line buddy positions still are available. Volunteers receive a T-shirt and the Windermere Volunteer Party tickets.

Free tandem, family bike ride set

P.T. Cyclery is hosting a no-host tandem and family bicycle ride in Port Townsend on Sunday, May 22.

The cyclists leave P.T. Cyclery at 252 Tyler St. at 9:30 a.m. and return between 1:30-2 p.m. The route is

mostly flat and about 25 miles in length with a lunch stop.

The only fee involved is purchasing lunch at the QFC market in Port Hadlock.

Baseball club hosts annual auction

Sequim Baseball’s annual dinner and auction is set for May 27 at Sequim Community Church’s Fellowship Hall, 1000 N. Fifth Ave.

Tickets are $20 per person or $30 per couple. The event features 50 raffle items.

Dinner includes Jeremiah’s BBQ chicken, salad, rolls and dessert.

Sequim Baseball is a nonprofit, summer baseball league for players ages 15-19. The 20-person team travels across the state for tournaments.

Pirates host golf tourney

The first Peninsula College Pirate Athletic Association Spring Golf Celebration is set for an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start on Saturday, May 21, at The Cedars at Dungeness golf course, 1965 Woodcock Road.

Cost is $100 per player; the fee includes prizes, gift bag, and food.
