Bear helps Wilder Senior earn win

Wilder Senior’s Conner Bear struck out 12 and allowed just one earned run as his team got back in the win column, beating Excelsior 5-1 in their June 30 Dick Brown Memorial Firecracker tournament game.

Bear, a Sequim High graduate who now plays for Hesston College in Kansas, went 6-and-two-thirds innings. He allowed only four hits through six, but in the seventh, Excelsior broke through for a run with three singles. Brian Guttormsen got the final out and a grounder with two runners on base in the seventh to earn a save.
