Winter sports gear swap set

Get rid of your old sporting gear and buy something “new to you” at the Outdoor Gear Swap set for noon-2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12 in the white tent at 101 E. Railroad Ave., in downtown Port Angeles.

To sell gear, drop gear off in the evenings leading up to the event — from 5-6 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, Nov. 9-11, or 10-11 a.m. the day of the event. Pick up your unsold gear after 3 p.m.

Fogtown Coffee will be at the event selling beverages and baked items. Proceeds from the event support the Hurricane Ridge Ski Team and the Surfrider Foundation.

Attendees can pick up passes for activities at Hurricane Ridge. Those unable to attend the swap can get a pass at Mervin Manufacturing (65 Banana Way, Carlsborg) between 2-6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27.

Rivers close to fishing

The Dungeness and Gray Wolf rivers are now closed to fishing because of low water conditions, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife announced last week. The closure affects both rivers, from the mouth upstream.

“This closure is necessary to protect fish that are unable to move upstream to their spawning grounds as well as existing Chinook redds,” state officials said in a press release.

Anglers can be notified of in-season rule changes as they are announced by signing up for WDFW Regulation Updates at wdfw.wa.gov/about/lists.
