Blyn man pleads guilty to rape, domestic violence assault

Nikolas Clark, of Blyn, pleaded guilty on Monday, April 30, to multiple charges stemming from a series of assaults that occurred on or between Nov. 10-Dec. 18, 2017, according to the Clallam County Prosecutor’s Office.

Those charges include: including Assault in Violation of a Domestic Violence No-Contact Order, Rape in the Second Degree-Domestic Violence, Rape in the Third Degree-Domestic Violence, Assault in the Second Degree-Strangulation/Domestic Violence, and Assault in the Fourth Degree-Domestic Violence.

According to court records, Clark was involved in a casual dating relationship with the victim. On Nov. 10 the two became engaged in an argument that ended with the defendant punching the victim in the jaw. Several weeks later, despite a domestic violence no-contact order, Clark reportedly came to the victim’s house at her invitation; over the next four days, Clark repeatedly assaulted and raped the victim, the Clallam County Prosecutor’s Office said last week.

Clark was arrested on Jan. 31 by Jefferson County deputies at his place of work in Port Hadlock.

Based on his criminal history, Clark faces a sentencing range of 210-280 months of prison under Washington state law, prosecutor’s office representatives said. In return for the his guilty plea, the state agreed to recommend a sentence of 210 months.

Regardless of the sentence that is imposed by the court, prosecutor’s office officials said, Clark will be subject to review by the Indeterminate Sentencing Review Board before he will be released from prison.

Sentencing is scheduled for June 14. to allow the Department of Corrections time to complete a pre-sentence investigation report to assist the court at Clark’s sentencing, the Clallam County Prosecutor’s Office said
