Science cafés continue spirit of Earth Day

As an extension of the Celebration of Science held in Port Angeles on April 22, celebrating “the very real role science plays in each of our daily lives,” Olympic Climate Action and the Feiro Marine Life Center are co-sponsoring a series of science cafés this week at restaurants in Sequim and Port Angeles.

All cafés begin with dinner (optional) at 5:30 p.m. and speakers at 6:30 p.m., followed by question-and-answer session. For more details, see www.olyclimate.org. Remaining science café events include:

In Sequim (Mariner Café, 609 W. Washington St.): April 26: Bill Baccus of Olympic National Park: “Changing Glaciers in Olympic National Park,” and April 27: Dr. Jenny Knoth of Green Crow: “Coded for Adaptation: How Forest Trees Withstand the Tests of Climate Fluctuations”

In Port Angeles (Smuggler’s Landing, 115 E. Railroad Ave.): April 26: Dr. David Roubik of Smithsonian: “Your Bees and My Bees: Where Will They Be in 50 Years?” and April 27: Josh Chenoweth of Olympic National Park: “Vegetation Restoration in the Former Elwha Reservoirs: A Tale of Two Surfaces.”
