Sequim’s fastpitch squad got a go-ahead RBI double from Shelby Lott in the fifth inning and added an insurance run in the sixth as the Wolves (4-1) held on for a 4-3 win against league rival Kingston on Monday afternoon.

Lott and Tia Bourm were each 2-for-3 with RBIs, McKenzie Bentz had two hits and Olivia Kirsch had a double.

Makayla Bentz picked up the win, striking out nine and giving up three runs — two earned — over seven innings.

Sequim’s baseball squad didn’t have the same trouble with the Buccaneers. Behind the strong starting pitching of Nick Johnston and the wildness of Buc pitching, Sequim (4-0) knocked off their visitors 10-0 in a mercy rule-shortened five-inning ballgame Monday.

Johnston went the distance, finishing with five strikeouts and just one hit and five walks in five innings.

Daniel Harker paced Sequim’s offense with three hits — two of them doubles — while Evan Hurn and Nigel Christian had two RBIs each. Dylan Lott and Tanner Rhodefer had RBIs and Layton Pace added two steals and a run scored as a pinch runner.
